Diamond Trade Up
ForeverWick Diamond Trade-Up Program Terms & Conditions
The rules
- Buy a diamond from us, wear it as long as you like, then bring it back toward a bigger one. There's no time limit and no deadline.
- Your credit is the lesser of two numbers: 80% of what you actually paid for that stone, or its carat weight × our current published rate. Whichever is lower is your credit.
- A diamond you didn't pay for is worth $0 in trade. Free diamonds, gifts and prizes cost you nothing, so they credit nothing. They're still worth 1 diamond each toward the Diamond Exchange.
- The stone must be 0.10 ct or larger and have a Diamond Vault code. The code is how we confirm it came from us.
- The stone you trade into must be at least double the carat weight. Trade a 0.25 ct, get a 0.50 ct or bigger. Shape can change freely.
- You pay the difference in cash, at full retail. Trade-up credit doesn't combine with sales, discount codes or promotions.
- No cash back. If your credit is more than the new stone costs, the extra is forfeited.
- The trade is final. Once we accept your stone it's ours, and the trade can't be reversed.
- The published rate changes with the diamond market. It can go down as well as up. The current rate is always at the top of this page.
- We can change or end this program at any time. Trades already approved will be honoured on the terms quoted.
Current trade-up rate: $900 per carat — effective 18 September 2026. Credit cap: 80% of the price you paid.
Which diamonds qualify
Any diamond you bought from ForeverWick that is 0.10 ct or larger and carries a Diamond Vault code.
That includes loose diamonds and the stone from a Pick Your Diamond Size candle, because you chose the size and paid for it.
Diamonds you didn't pay for — free stones from the spend ladder, wheel prizes, giveaway winnings, gifts with purchase — are technically eligible, but credit is capped at a percentage of what you paid, so they're worth $0 in trade. Send them to the Diamond Exchange instead, where every diamond counts as 1 toward a ring regardless of size or how you got it.
Not eligible at all:
- Diamonds not purchased from ForeverWick
- Stones under 0.10 ct — use the Diamond Exchange
- Stones with no Vault code, or a code that doesn't match the stone
- Recut, re-set by a third party, or substituted stones
- Fancy-colour and certified specialty stones, which are priced individually — contact us and we'll quote the trade directly
How your credit is calculated
We run two numbers and give you the lower one.
\text{Credit} = \min\left( 0.80 \times \text{price you paid},\; \text{carat weight} \times \$900 \right)
Why two numbers. The first keeps it fair to you — your credit is tied to your own receipt, not to a figure we pick. The second keeps it workable for us — if diamond prices fall a long way, we can't credit more than the stone is currently worth. In most trades the first number is the lower one and it's the one that applies.
"Price you paid" means the net amount charged for that diamond on your order, after every discount, promotion and bundle allocation. Where a diamond was sold inside a bundle, it's the amount allocated to the diamond line, which is shown on your receipt.
"Carat weight" is the weight on your Vault certificate. Where a stone was sold as a range (for example 0.26–0.28 ct), we use the lower figure.
Credit applies to another ForeverWick diamond only. It can't be applied to candles, settings, bath bombs, perfumes, wheel spins, giveaway entries, shipping or tax.
The step-up requirement
The stone you trade into must be at least twice the carat weight of the stone you trade in.
This is a trade-up program, not a return or exchange program. The rule exists so the transaction always moves you to a meaningfully larger stone.

Shape may change freely. A round can trade into a cushion, an emerald into a pear. Only carat weight governs the minimum.
Trading in more than one stone at once is fine — the carat weights add together, and the doubling rule applies to the combined weight.
What you pay
You pay the full current retail price of the new stone, less your credit. The balance is due in full at the time of the trade.
- No cash back. If your credit exceeds the price of the new stone, the excess is forfeited. It is not refunded, carried forward, or issued as store credit.
- No stacking. Trade-up credit cannot be combined with sale pricing, discount codes, bundle offers, loyalty rewards, or any other promotion. The new stone is sold at full published retail.
- Shipping and tax are payable on the new stone and are not covered by credit.
- No entries. A trade-up is an exchange, not a purchase, and does not earn giveaway entries or advance the free-diamond spend ladder.
- The traded stone is final. Once we accept it, it becomes ForeverWick property. It cannot be recovered, and the trade cannot be reversed.
A trade-up is not a sale for the purposes of our returns policy. The new stone is covered by our standard warranty but is not returnable for refund.
The rate changes, and it can go down
Please read this part before you buy.
Your credit is capped two ways: at 80% of what you paid, and at your stone's carat weight times our current published rate. When diamond prices fall, the second cap can drop below the first, and your credit drops with it.
Lab-grown diamond prices have fallen substantially in recent years and may keep falling. We don't guarantee a rate and we don't lock one at your purchase date. The rate can rise too — it's reviewed periodically, and the current figure with its effective date is posted at the top of this page. Past rates are listed here so you can see how it has moved.

How the rate is published. The rate above is the only place it lives. These terms never quote a figure anywhere else — they refer to "the current published rate," so the rate can be updated on its own without rewriting or re-publishing this page. When it changes we add a row to the table above rather than replacing the old one, so the history stays visible.
What this means in practice. Trade-up is about what your upgrade costs, not what your old stone is worth. When prices fall your credit falls — but the larger stone you're trading into gets cheaper too, usually by more in absolute terms. The cash difference is the number that matters, and we always show it to you before you commit to anything.
ForeverWick diamonds are jewellery. They are not an investment, a store of value, or a financial product. Nothing here promises your diamond will hold its price.
Condition, verification and shipping
Diamonds are durable, and we know it. Normal wear — light surface grime, mounting marks from a setting, everyday handling — does not reduce your credit. A diamond that has been worn for three years is worth the same to us as one that sat in a drawer.
What we do check:
- Provenance. The Vault code must resolve to a ForeverWick stone, and the stone must match its record on shape, carat weight, colour and clarity.
- Identity. The stone we receive must be the stone the record describes. Where a stone carries a laser inscription, we check it.
- Integrity. Chipped, cracked, fractured or laser-drilled stones are assessed individually and may be declined or credited at a reduced amount.
If a stone is set in jewellery, it must be unset before you send it, at your cost. We do not remove stones from third-party settings. Stones in ForeverWick settings can be returned set — contact us first.
Shipping. You ship the stone to us, insured, at your cost, using the instructions we provide when your trade is approved. Risk of loss stays with you until we receive and log the parcel. We ship the new stone to you insured at our cost.

- Find your Vault code. It came with your diamond and lives in your Diamond Vault account.
- Pick the stone you want. It has to be at least double the carat weight. Anything in stock qualifies.
- Submit a trade request at [LINK] or email [EMAIL] with your Vault code and the stone you want.
- We send you the numbers — your credit at the current rate, the new stone's price, and the cash difference. Nothing is charged yet.
- You approve, and we send shipping instructions. The quote holds for [N] days from the date we send it. After that, the rate in effect on the day you actually ship applies.
- Ship your stone insured. Keep the tracking.
- We verify and charge the balance. Verification usually takes [N] business days from receipt.
- Your new stone ships, with a new Vault code and certificate.
If we can't verify your stone, we'll tell you why and return it to you at our cost.
General terms
We can change or end this program. ForeverWick may modify these terms, change the published rate, restrict eligibility, or discontinue the program at any time, for any reason, without notice. Trades already approved and in transit will be honoured on the terms quoted.
No cash value. Trade-up credit is not money, not a gift card, not transferable, and has no cash value. It exists only within a completed trade.
One customer, one account. Trades are honoured for the original purchaser. Stones acquired secondhand, resold, or transferred between customers are not eligible.
We may decline a trade. We reserve the right to decline any trade request, including where we suspect fraud, abuse, resale activity, or a pattern of trading intended to extract value rather than upgrade a stone.
Reasonable volume. This program is for individuals upgrading their own jewellery. Commercial, bulk and repeated high-volume trading is not permitted.
Lab-grown. ForeverWick diamonds are laboratory-grown unless a listing states otherwise. Lab-grown and natural diamonds are priced differently and are not interchangeable in this program.
Where these terms apply. This program is offered to customers in [TERRITORY]. Governed by the laws of [STATE], without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

Rate and cap are set: 80% of price paid, $900 per carat. Remaining brackets are contact details, territory and the verification/quote windows.
Make the rate a metafield, not text. Store rate_per_carat and rate_effective_date as a Shopify metafield or metaobject and render them into this page and every diamond PDP through Liquid. Then a rate change is one field edit, not a terms rewrite, and it can't fall out of sync between pages. Append a history row here when it moves.
Why 80% works at $900. At every price in the catalog the 80% leg is the lower number, so it's what customers actually receive — and it always lands under what they paid. The $900 cap doesn't bind anywhere today; it only activates once retail falls below about $1,125/ct. It's a safety valve, and it only protects you if you actually lower it as the market moves.

80% is only affordable because stones come back into inventory. On a .50ct → 1.00ct trade you take in $620 cash plus a $450 stone you can resell, against roughly $390 of COGS on the stone going out. If returned stones ever go to the candle pool instead of back on the site at full retail, 80% stops working.

Why it matters |

"Price paid" on bundles |
Bronze splits $50 into $29.57 entries + $20.43 diamond, so that .05ct credits off $20.43 — about $16. Confirm the receipt shows the split before someone argues it. |
|
Round pricing |
Rounds run $691–$1,000/ct while every fancy shape is $1,100/ct. Side by side on the new homepage row that gap is hard to defend. |
|
Carat vs. value for the 2× rule |
Drafted as carat. Value is the industry norm. |

Redemption logging |
Stone in, stone out, cash paid, holding period — from trade #1. |
